. Its routes are mainly short to medium haul using a mainly Airbus fleet of A319 and A320's and a modest long haul fleet of Boeing 767s. One of its main local competitors is AeroMexico.

The company's Frequent flier program is called MexicanaGo, and it is a member of the Oneworld airline alliance, one of the big three such alliances. Mexicana joined Oneworld in October 2009, switching from the Star Alliance. Such switching of alliances is not that common.
